Amplification and Filtering ?
1 10 2004Cindy’s last post illustrates my motivation. Before you sharpen your pencils: I admit, I wrote columns myself. 10 years ago I wrote columns on ‘the Internet’. I think at the time it made sense, the amount of users totaled to 2.000 in Belgium and not many had a clue what the Internet was about.
But times changed, and journalism didn’t. I is just planly irritating when “sex expert” Mieke tries to communicate a witty (?) typology of the ‘iPodding subculture’. Cindy made her point: there is no such thing.
The is me, Cindy, Mieke, my mother, my sister. They all have iPods and theer is no common denominator whatsover. The only thing we have in common: we all have Internet access and an RSS newsreader. Yes, even my mother understands the point.
I think it is about time some people start rethinking the role of filtering/amplification of mass media broadcasting…
