It’ll be great to meet Thorwald, who’s converting a trawler into a luxury diving yacht

It’ll be goo to visit the City of Knowledge technoparque, especially now that the European Union comitted 7,7 million Euro to it the coming 7 years.

in January 2006, I was stunned by the property development, but things didn’t quite cool down, on the contrary.  Just Google “Los Faros de Panama” to have an idea of the kind of buildings which are constructed en masse in Punta Pacifica, on the Amador Causeway and around Punta Paitilla.  I feel more comfortable in the Allbrook, Clayton and El Cangrejo neigbourhoods.

Some people complain about the lack of culture in Panama.  That the history of Peru or Bolivia would be much more intriguing.  I strongly disagree.  Through Thorwald’s site I stumbled on the details of the Darien Colony  that the Scots tried to set up in 1698. It became a big disaster, and the bankruptcy of Scotland, eventually driving Scotland in the arms of EnglandYou can find the detailed story here.

Panama tips http://blog.johnbaeyens.com/2007/06/panama-tips/john/ http://blog.johnbaeyens.com/2007/06/panama-tips/john/#comments Fri, 08 Jun 2007 20:39:44 +0000 John John Baeyens Panama http://blog.johnbaeyens.com/2007/06/panama-tips/john/ Vincent and Katarina are flying from Buenos Aires to Panama tomorrow. I am rushing to write some tips Vincent begged for.
This is what I like so much about Not So-So, even in it’s current early pre-alpha phase: you actually take time to write your friends tips.
Before I would at most jot down some words in a mail, the one2one communication line was just to time-intensive. Now that I enter the tips on a structurised platform, they become re-usable in so many ways.

Panama and Brazil strengthen ties http://blog.johnbaeyens.com/2006/12/panama-and-brazil-strengthen-ties/john/ http://blog.johnbaeyens.com/2006/12/panama-and-brazil-strengthen-ties/john/#comments Fri, 15 Dec 2006 13:24:54 +0000 John Brasil Panama http://blog.johnbaeyens.com/2006/12/panama-and-brazil-strengthen-ties/ This makes a lot of sense, the possibilities of the two collaborating are endless.  And I’m most thrilled of the direct connection Rio - Panama; I’ve always been wanting to fly one of those topnotch Brazilian Embraer planes.  Makes a lot of sense, not, Pelle?

Brazilian aeronautical company Embraer sold 12 94-seat airplanes to COPA, which are destined to new routes in Panama’s commercial air transportation.  The new flight to Rio de Janeiro was added to a regional flight operating since last July between Panama and Manaos, one of the most important cities in South America’s Amazon area. The ambassador stated that his government is interested in enhancing ties with Panama in other areas, such as trade, which currently amounts to 320 million U.S. dollars.  Last week, Panamanian Foreign Minister Samuel Lewis Navarro met with his Brazilian counterpart, Celso Amorim, in order to promote bilateral trade. During their meeting, the two ministers talked about Brazilian companies’ participation in the Panama Canal extension and Panama’s accession to the United Nations Security Council. Brazilian aeronautical company Embraer sold COPA 12 94-seat airplanes, which are destined to new routes in Panama’s commercial air transportation.
